Do you love adding touches to your decor for the little holidays like St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, or Valentine’s Day? It is so fun and easy to to get festive for the days that don’t get much attention. Decorating for Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be only about red, pink, and hearts. Subtle touches of color, signs with inspirational messages of love, or a small design on a candle all qualify! KP’s Love Inspired Decor category has expanded so much since the last time I wrote about the trend. Let’s take a look at this year’s gallery wall that is done with all new items!
Planning a Gallery Wall
Gallery walls are a fun way to display numerous signs, picture frames, wreaths, etc. It’s super fun and almost like a mini game of Tetris! So you definitely want to take a bit of time to plan your wall before you just start hammering and hanging.
Tips for Creating a Gallery Wall
- Decide the layout you want to use. I did a quick search on Pinterest to find some different ideas for gallery layouts. Try not to get overwhelmed! You probably have an idea of how you want it to look already so don’t let a Google search change your mind.
- Decide on one large piece to be the focal point and then build out from there. I suggest laying all your items out on the floor to get an idea of how you want to place everything and what it will look like.
- Make sure you have a level so you have assistance knowing that you’re hanging things straight. Feel free to use hammer and nails to hang your signs and frames. Personally, I am a fan of the Command strips. Maybe I have a fear of commitment and nailing holes in the wall seems so final. You can easily remove those strips without any damage to your walls. Easy peasy!
Simple and Lovely for Year Round Display
A love inspired/Valetine’s Day wall doesn’t have to look like the bargain aisle of Target threw up in your home! This wall has two focal points to build around: the Live Laugh Love Sign and the Galvanized Milk Can.
I like different sizes, and the staggered look for gallery walls. But I have seen lots of beautiful walls where everything was all similar in size and perfectly lined up. What do you prefer?
I just love the arrangement in the milk can! There are two Lighted Branches, two of the Snow White Pips, and a few of the Heart Ornaments from the 12/set. When Valentine’s Day is over, take off the ornaments and you still have a beautiful display. But, honestly, I would probably keep the hearts in all year.
